Wineries for Climate Protection

WfCP is the first and only specific certification for the wine sector in terms of environmental sustainability. It aims to become an international benchmark in the wine and environmental field, seeking solutions and best practices for wineries. The scheme is recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture (Ministerio de Agricultura) and can be used to directly obtain the National Carbon Footprint Register stamp (sello del Registro Nacional de Huella de Carbono) 

Wineries for Climate Protection (WfCP) is oriented towards continuous improvement in four phases: 

• Plan: Establish a Reduction Plan
• Do: Undertake reduction actions
• Check: Measure the impact of the actions implemented
• Act: Do something about the actions with unexpected impacts

Although there are numerous indicators to measure environmental sustainability, the WfCP certificate measures commitment in relation to four key pillars: 

• Greenhouse gas emissions
• Energy efficiency and renewable energy
• Water and waste management

WfCP is a scorecard-based scheme that requires a process of continuous improvement within organisations and biennial renewal.
