Sodexo's occupational health and safety policy obtains OHSAS 18001 certification. The seal, granted by Applus+ and valid internationally, accredits the commitment to occupational health and safety policies in the company. With 4,400 employees in Spain and 380,000 worldwide, Sodexo is the 6th largest employer in Europe and 21st in the world

Madrid, September 30, 2011.- Sodexo, leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, has obtained the OHSAS 18001 certification, which recognizes the efficiency of the company's occupational health and safety policies. This accreditation is an international recognition of the validity of the occupational risk prevention system implemented by Sodexo, as well as its commitment to employee safety and its efforts to generate awareness in the heart of the company.
Employee health and safety has special relevance in a company the size of Sodexo, which has more than 380,000 employees globally (4,400 in Spain) and is the 6th largest employer in Europe and 21st worldwide. The audits carried out to obtain the standard have analyzed the occupational risk prevention procedures in Sodexo and their standardized implementation in the more than 300 centers in which the company operates throughout Spain.
The OHSAS 18001 standard has been granted by Applus+, global inspection, testing, certification and quality control company. This certification goes beyond compliance with the regulations dealing with occupational health and safety, since an annual audit is carried out (rather than every four years as the Occupational Health and Safety Law sets out), and establishes a greater follow-up of the occupational accidents or incidents that occur in the workplace.
