ISO 27001, a key certification for guaranteeing correct information management

Applus+ has certified the ISO 27001 information security management system put in place by Chávarri Abogados.
The law firm received its certificate on Thursday 12th April. In attendance were José Ramón Couso, the firm’s managing director, and José Francisco Bonet representing Applus+ Certification.
This is the third certificate Applus+ has issued to Chávarri Abogados. Last year, the firm received an ISO 9001 quality management certificate and an ISO 14001 environmental management certificate. With the recent addition of this ISO 27001 certificate, Chávarri is one of the only law firms to hold three international accreditations.

    Digitisation in the legal sector

The digital revolution has spread like wildfire through all professional sectors, including law. Nowadays, law firms must rise to the challenge of digitisation if they want to retain their competitive edge and go on meeting their clients’ needs.
Business digitisation involves making use of cloud-based storage systems, advanced document-creation software and other management tools that help to speed up processes and optimise law-firm resources. However, this digitisation process has also created a new need: the protection of stored data so that it is both accessible and secure.
Certifying a management system under ISO 27001 helps companies to minimise inherent information-security risks such as data loss, theft or corruption, as well as their potential economic cost.
