What is the UNE 15713 standard?

Many companies handle confidential data. When the time comes to destroy this information, independently of the format in which it is stored, the standard UNE 15713 must be complied with. This standard details a set of good practices to ensure that said material is destroyed securely and without danger, guaranteeing confidentiality.

The basic principles of the UNE 15713 standard are:

  • The confidential material to be destroyed must be stored in containers with a safety lock or with an individual code.
  • Vehicles collecting the material will be closed and they will have rigid frames.
  • The disposal centre will have restricted access, intruder alarms and closed circuit video surveillance.
  • The destruction method used will be suitable to the type of material to be destroyed in order to guarantee that the waste product cannot be reconstructed, rendering it illegible or impossible to reconstruct.
  • The final sub-product, which are the remnants left after destroying the materials, must be recycled.
