Lugo branch of Caritas turns to Applus+ for ISO 9001:2015 certification of its quality system

29/11/2019

On 24th October, Applus+ Certification presented the Lugo branch of Caritas with an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate.

In attendance at the award ceremony were Amparo González, Director-General for Family, Childhood and Demographic Revitalisation; Arturo Parrado, Director-General for Social Inclusion; Ginés Plaza, President of Cáritas Lugo; and Alfonso Carrasco, Bishop of Lugo.
This certificate, which was presented by Ana Maria San Román, Applus+ Certification’s Business Manager for Northern Spain, recognises the quality management system in place at Cáritas Lugo as fit for purpose. It places an emphasis on continuous improvement centred around the care of Caritas users. In its Lugo facility, Caritas coordinates, targets and promotes the charitable and social work taking placing within its diocese.

Benefits of implementing and certifying an ISO 9001 management system for non-profit organisations

The implementation and certification of a quality management system enables an organisation to improve both its internal and its external processes. It is a powerful tool for identifying and evaluating quality-related aspects – such as risks, inter-departmental relations and user confidence – which the organisation can then set out to improve on a progressive and ongoing basis.
