Applus+ Certification, accredited to validate DNSH self-assessments, one of the usual requirements when financing projects with European funds.

22/12/2022

The DNSH (Do not significant harm) principle states that candidate projects for EU recovery funds must be self-assessed by the project executing company.

The purpose: to ensure that its implementation will not negatively affect any of the 6 environmental objectives defined in Regulation 852/2020.

If required by the managing body of the aid, the mandatory self-assessment must be validated by an accredited third party, such as Applus+ Certification, which has the ENAC accreditation to help any company to validate its projects self-assessment of the compliance of the DNSH principle.

Which are the 6 environmental objectives of the DNSH principle?

    • Climate change mitigation.
    • Adaptation to climate change.
    • Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources.
    • Circular economy, including waste prevention and recycling.
    • Prevention and control of pollution to air, water or soil.
    • Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Which aids might require DNSH self-assessment validation?

    • Grants under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), the Spanish strategy for channelling Next Generation EU funds.
    • Aid from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
    • Aid from the CDTI funding lines.

With this new accreditation, Applus+ Certification expands its catalogue of services to companies seeking to make the most of the EU aid lines aimed at economic recovery and managed by the different local administrations.
