The presentation took place in the heart of the Cazorla natural park, and was attended by the Centre Director, Miguel Ángel Ruiz; the Jaen Territorial Delegate for the Regional Government of Andalusia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Soledad Aranda; the centre’s Environmental Quality Advisor, Manuel Valenzuela; the Agriculture Councillor for Cazorla City Council, José Luís Olivares; and the Applus+ Certification Business Development Manager, José Francisco Bonet, who presented the certificate.

This public centre, which is administered by the Regional Government of Andalusia and attached to the Regional Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, focuses its work on environmental training, and aims to reach as many social sectors and professionals as possible.

    Commitment to the environment

The ISO 14001 certification is the most widely recognised international standard for environment management systems. It is regarded as a key element for companies who want to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

One of the main changes made in the 2015 version of ISO 14001 is that it follows a high-level draft structure. Before this draft model for the standards was introduced, companies found it difficult to integrate various ISO management system standards as they were all defined by different structures, requirements and terminology.

In ISO 14001:2015 there are also new aspects to take into consideration while planning the environmental management system: understanding the organisation and its context, increasing the commitment of senior management and adopting a risk-based approach.
