Applus+ recertifies Telefónica as a “Empresa Saludable”

07/12/2017

Telefónica’s SEES (healthy business excellence) certification has been renewed, with the company improving in several aspects of the audit

On 4th December, Applus+ Certification issued Telefónica with a new certificate demonstrating its continuing status as a "Empresa Saludable" (Healthy Business). This renewed certification recognises Telefónica’s ongoing efforts in the field of staff health, safety and wellbeing.
At the award ceremony that took place at Telefónica, José Francisco Bonet San Martín, Regional Commercial Manager at Applus+ Certification, presented the certificate. Also in attendance were Fernando Camino, Managing Director of Quirónprevención; Marisol López, manager of Telefónica’s joint occupational health and safety service; and Pilar Campos Sánchez, head of health and safety at the telecoms company.
Telefónica first implemented the SEES scheme in 2015, making itself the first telecoms company to be certified as a “Healthy Business”. This year it turned once again to Applus+ for recertification.
Telefónica has made a real public commitment by seeking recertification as a Healthy Business since, as part of the scheme’s renewal process, the company is subject to periodic checks to verify its continued improvement. This time around, improvements were noted in a number of areas, namely paternity leave, energy certification and accessibility of the company’s facilities.

Why choose to certify as a Healthy Business?

The Healthy Business model developed by Quirónprevención was conceived to assess companies seeking to create and maintain a healthy working environment for their staff.
Certification under this scheme offers many benefits to companies. These include the following:
    • An improved working environment
    • Increased employee commitment
    • Reduced rates of accidents in the workplace, occupational illness and absenteeism
    • Enhanced company productivity and competitiveness
