FCC, first European business group to receive quality seal in procurement

25/07/2013
Applus+ charged with providing certification in UNE-CWA 15896 value-added purchasing management.
FCC’s purchasing model has successfully passed its “UNE-CWA 15896 – value-added purchasing management” certification audit, becoming the first European business group to obtain certification under this standard.

Applus+, the company charged with FCC’s certification, presented the certificate at the 16th Professional Purchasers’ Congress, which was held on 5th and 6th June 2013 and organised by the Spanish Association of Purchasing Managers (AERCE) under the “Transforming purchasing” banner. Federico Martínez, Director of Institutional Relations at Applus+, made the award to FCC’s Director of Purchasing Management, Juan Carlos Montejano Domínguez. In addition, FCC received the first-ever quality seal in procurement from AERCE National President Juan José Jiménez.

The UNE-CWA 15896 value-added purchasing management standard was developed in Brussels with the involvement of all European purchasing associations, including Spain’s AERCE. The standard is based on best European business practice. It is the first international quality standard in the field of purchasing and its aim is to promote and certify excellence in the management of purchasing departments. It also attests that operations undertaken in the field of management in question were carried out in an environmentally friendly, ethical and sustainable manner.

In order to identify and implement the adaptations that would be required to its purchasing model in order to meet the requirements of this standard, FCC sought advice from CWA PUMA experts the Centro Experto de Calidad y Procesos de Informática El Corte Inglés. As such, this specialist consultancy firm became the first to take part, successfully, in a process of this kind.
