Applus+ renews CHOCOLATES LACASA’s BRC Food and IFS Food certification

The CHOCOLATES LACASA production facility in Utebo (Zaragoza) has recently achieved IFS recertification at the higher level and grade A BRC recertification.
The new certificates were presented by Alicia Arroyo (Head of Operations and Food System Certification at Applus+) and Mario Magallon (Applus+ Business Manager) to Lucas Lacasa (Managing Director) and Ana Herrero (Lacasa’s Director of Quality) on 12th September 2017 in Utebo.

Lacasa is 100% Spanish-owned, having been passed down through five generations of the Lacasa family. The company is dedicated to the production and distribution of confectionary, chocolates and traditional Spanish nougat.
The factory runs around the clock and employs 290 people.
The company’s commercial brands are Lacasitos, Conguitos, Lacasa and Marcona.

About the BRC and IFS certification schemes

These schemes are used in the auditing of food-processing companies to ensure quality, food safety and operational standards. Their aim is to minimise food safety risks, limit the number of audits required, reduce costs, boost client confidence throughout the whole supply chain and ensure compliance with food and consumer-protection legislation.
